FASI-NF1


Patient with Neurofibromatosis type I

MRI brain shows focal areas of altered signal intensity appearing  isointense on T1 weighted images and hyperintense on T2/FLAIR images in bilateral cerebellar hemispheres and right basal ganglia region mainly in the right caudate nucleus and putamen. These lesions FASI (Focal areas of signal intensity) are known to associated with NF1. 

Other intracranial findings of NF1 include optic nerve glioma or optic pathway  glioma and
progressive sphenoid wing dysplasia (not seen in this case)
