Pineal Cyst: Incidentally detected on MRI for Sellar Tumour

The pineal gland develops by the proliferation of walls of the third ventricle diverticulum in the diencephalic roof. A remnant of the pineal diverticulum or distension of its obliterated portion has been postulated as a possible source of pineal cyst. Non-neoplastic glial cysts of the pineal gland are relatively common findings on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies of the brain, or in autopsy. This patient had an incidental pineal cyst on MRI done for pituitary adenoma.
